Installer Level I - (5 Days)
Entry level into the telecommunications cabling industry. The course is designed for individuals with little or no cabling experience. This intensive five-day course is designed to provide cabling installers with the background, basic skills, and knowledge needed to function effectively on the job. The curriculum includes lecture, reviews, and hands-on lab exercises. At the completion of the course the students will be expected to correctly demonstrate their acquired skills through the BICSI generated hands-on exam, and a written exam.

Course Materials: Students will be provided with course workbook, notepads, and highlighters. The BICSI Telecommunications Cabling Installation Manual will be available to sign out for study purposes. The manual will not be used in class, but is a great study tool for the written exam. The manual is also available to be purchased from BICSI at www.BICSI.org.

Prerequisites: Eighth grade math and reading skills are required.
Credits: 30 RCDD hours

Installer Level II - (5 Days)
This course is designed for the experienced telecommunications installers who wish to expand their industry knowledge, learn new skills, and continue to grow professionally. It is tailored to meet the needs of cabling installers who want to stay abreast of the latest installation practices and standards. At the completion of the course the students will be expected to correctly demonstrate their acquired skills through the BICSI generated hands-on exam, and written exam.

Course Materials: Students will be provided with course workbook, notepads, and highlighters. The BICSI Telecommunications Cabling Installation Manual will be available to sign out for study purposes. The manual will not be used in class, but is a great study tool for the written exam. The manual is also available to be purchased from BICSI at www.BICSI.org.

Prerequisites: Two or more years of recent, verifiable telecommunications/low voltage cabling experience. Successful completion of BICSI's Installer level I training class and exam is recommended.

Credits: 30 RCDD hours

Technician Level - (5 Days)
This is the most advanced phase of BICSI's Telecommunications Cabling Installation Training Program. Parts of the previous two levels are not covered in this program, however you are expected to know them prior to entering this course. Previous Levels course completion is strongly recommended. This level is tailored to meet the needs of the leaders of projects, and is designed for the highly experienced Installer. At the completion of the course the students will be expected to correctly demonstrate their acquired skills through the BICSI generated hands-on exam, and written exam.

Course Materials: Students will be provided with course workbook, notepads, and highlighters. The BICSI Telecommunications Cabling Installation Manual will be available to sign out for study purposes. The manual will not be used in class, but is a great study tool for the written exam. The manual is also available to be purchased from BICSI at www.BICSI.org.

Prerequisites: Five years or more of recent verifiable Telecommunications/low-voltage cabling experience. Successful completion of previous two BICSI Installer level training classes and exams are strongly recommended.

AMP Act I - (2 Days)
This class covers the proper installation and terminating practices required to install AMP's premises cabling system. It incorporates a large amount of hands-on termination's to be performed in a lab environment. Act I certification is required for AMP warranty certifications. (Must have a minimum of 50%-certified installers performing the installation).

Course Materials: Students will be provided workbooks, note pads, highlighters, and student kit. (Consumables)

Prerequisites: None.

Credits: 14 hours BICSI CEC's

AMP Act II - (2 Days)
This class is required to certify AMP premises cabling systems for AMP warranties. Topics will cover testing and troubleshooting of installed cabling. Includes extensive copper and fiber test equipment hands-on training. AMP requires at least one Act II certified technician responsible for the testing of the installation before the AMP warranty can be issued.

Course Materials: Students will be provided workbooks, note pads, and highlighters.

Prerequisites: AMP Act I certification.

Flextray - (1 day)Extra Info
Topics will include overview of the TIA/EIA standards on cable supports. Additionally there will be hands-on cutting and installation of Flextray product, utilizing different supports, connections, and cutting bends.

Prerequisites: None.

Expanded Copper/Fiber Terminating and Troubleshooting(2 Days)
This is a great course to get your BICSI CEC's. Class covers the latest "to-date" Standards, large multi-pair copper preparation and termination, fiber termination, breakouts, light meter, and OTDR testing.

Prerequisites: Previous BICSI Installer Level II or higher. Geared toward the more experienced Installers.

Credits: 14 BICSI CEC's

Confined Space Entrant/Attendant- (4 hours)Extra Info
This course covers safe permit required confined space entry and the responsibilities of the attendant. Definition of permit required confined spaces, hazards associated with working within a confined space, and understanding of the "Permit" process.

Confined Space Entrant Supervisor- (4 hours)Extra Info
This course covers in greater detail the confined space permit process, non-visual/visual hazards state, city, and county laws pertaining to confined spaces, and policies and procedures during emergency/casualty situations. Class will also cover a detailed hands-on process of pre- evaluation to assess a confined space entry.

Prerequisites: Confined Space Entrant/Attendant training.

Introduction to Voice/Data Cabling - (3 days)Extra Info
This course is designed for the "New Hires" in the trade. Instruction includes, industry related Standards and Codes. Hands-on lab exercises include, installation of structured cabling, connectors, termination of patch panels and jacks, connecting a PC and a telephone through the (students installed) structured cabling system, and verifying their correct operations. Also included is Confined Space Entrant/Attendant training by OSHA authorized instructor.

Asbestos Awareness - (4 hours)
Course will cover the hazards associated with asbestos and their long-term health effects. This course will enable the student to recognize the dangers of asbestos exposure, as well as what to do if asbestos is present at the jobsite.

Prerequisites: None

Course cost: $125.

Fire Stop (3M) - (3 hours)
Topics will cover an in-depth lecture, in addition to "hands-on" lab exercises for the proper application of fire stop material and policies surrounding them. Class will utilize 3M for the fire stop material and provide the student with 3M certification. This module is intended for those technicians who have not attended the 10-day COEI Basic Installation Skills class.

Multi-Pair Termination and Troubleshooting - (6-8 hours) This is a course designed to teach the student the proper methods for multi-pair cable terminations. Various types of cable will be covered in the course including ARMM, PE 89, and PE 39. Each student will breakout, bullet bond, and terminate a 200 pair cable. In addition the student will also test and troubleshoot the cable. This course is designed for the entry level to experienced technician.

Ramset/Redhead Powder Actuated Tool - (2-3 hours)
The class will cover in detail, tool and operator safety, selecting the proper power level for the gun, and cleaning procedures. Students will review a safety video, completely disassemble and re-assemble the powder-actuated guns, and complete a hands-on exercise. The hands-on will consist of each student properly demonstrating safety, and firing procedures for the gun. At the end of the course there will be a short review, then a final exam.
Each student will receive an operator's certification card for the Ramset/Redhead powder actuated tool, which is required by OSHA.

Hilti Powder Actuated Tool - (2-3 hours)
The class will cover in detail, tool and operator safety, selecting the proper power level for the gun, and cleaning procedures. Scissor Lift Training - (2 hours)Extra Info
The scissor lift training course will cover functions of the scissor lift, safety when using the scissor lift, and operator responsibilities. The students will begin by watching a 30-minute video on the scissor lift. The video will cover operational procedures, pre-inspection procedures, safety procedures while using the lift, and shut-down procedures. After the completion of the video, each student will be given a copy of the ANSI standards (American National Standards Institute) applicable to the scissor lift. The students will review the standards, and then there will be a final exam.
At the end of the course the students will receive a certification card for the scissor lift, as well as an A.T.T.S. certificate of completion.
